RevoluSun is proud to announce and congratulate the winners of this year’s “Earth Day Challenge.” Marian Kang, Hawaii office paralegal and Doug Pierce, Newton, Massachusetts General Manager won the in-house challenge, both of which were rewarded with a solar briefcase. Kang taught students about sustainability on Earth Day. Pierce plucked eggs from his chicken coup for breakfast, built a garden and composted.
The public winners, which were judged by the amount of Facebook “likes” they received when submitting their own sustainable activities via images and video on Earth Day, were Griffith Jurgens in Hawaii and David Whitman in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. Jurgens, a sixth grade teacher at Sacred Hearts Academy, taught students about sustainability on Earth Day. Whitman created a human powered vehicle and pedaled to work. Both won a solar backpack from RevoluSun.
“Doing this contest each year allows us to walk the walk and bring our values of renewable energy into the bigger picture for daily, individual acts of sustainability,” said Eric Carlson, RevoluSun principal. “We get to inspire each other to refresh and expand our earth-focused initiatives at home and at the work place.”
