Oahu’s solar photovoltaic industry saw its fourth straight month of growth in June in terms of permits issued, according to statistics collected by Marco Mangelsdorf, president of Hilo-based ProVision Solar.
During the first six months of 2015, the amount of permits issued was slightly above the amount of permits dole out on Oahu when comparing the same time period a year ago.
In June, 632 permits were issued, compared to 492 permits issued the same month in 2014.
During the first half of the year, 3,515 permits were issued, compared to 3,548 permits issued during the first six months of last year.
The total state projects value of the first six months of this year was $114 million, compared to $106 million during the first half of 2014.
The top contractors that pulled permits during the first half of this year include Alternate Energy, Hawaii Energy Connection, American Electric, RevoluSun and REC Solar.
