HONOLULU — RevoluSun Smart Home (RSH), Hawaii’s premier solar and Smart Home solutions provider, today announced a collaboration with Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii in celebration of Earth month. An art gallery installation by Sustainable Coastlines artists will be up in RevoluSun Smart Home’s Innovation Center showroom at 210 Ward Ave throughout the month of April, open to the public Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
See how artist Shannon McCarthy uses microplastics from beach cleanups to create brilliant mosaics. Feel how the ocean changes and rearranges our everyday objects in Mark Cunningham’s creations that he makes from manmade objects he finds forgotten on the ocean floor. Other local artists Aaron Char, “Manny Aloha” Pangilinan, Jeff Hawe and Eduardo Bolioli are also showcasing their ocean- and conservation-themed artwork in varying mediums. Each artist is donating a portion of art sales from the showing to Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii.
“This art gallery is a conversation piece for people to start thinking critically about solutions to ocean pollution and other lifestyle choices that we can make for a healthier environment,” said RSH Chief Innovation Officer Eric Carlson. “Working with community organizations toward the big picture of less waste and more sustainability is always a priority for us. We love how Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii has created big legislative changes for Hawaii through quantifying what they collect at their beach cleanups.”
Since its inception in 2011, Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii has used data from beach cleanups to quantify how many plastic bags and cigarette butts it has picked up from the shoreline. This was the catalyst for the Oahu smoking ban, Maui tobacco ban, statewide smoking ban, and Oahu plastic bag ban. In the past four years, Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii hosted 59 cleanups throughout the state, removing over 135,000 pounds of debris with the help of over 13,000 volunteers. Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii leads the world in marine debris recycling with over 38,000 pounds recycled.
Located at 210 Ward Ave., the Innovation Center features RevoluSun Smart Home’s curated collection of products, which include cooling whole house fans, natural lighting solutions, PV hot water heaters, EV charging stations, home automation and security systems, and solar battery storage. RSH has presented free educational seminars to the public since the company’s beginning in 2009. RSH’s goal is to educate the public on ways to harness indigenous power and utilize energy-efficient home technology for a cleaner, smarter Hawaii.
